hiya and welcome to DnM, Realgoodwoman123. Would you mind if I shortened
that to Rgw? First of all read up to see the basics on how the site
works here.
Secondly, I'm confident in saying many on the site here have been
scammed ( not all). Sorry to hear you lost money to your scammer.
Chances are good more importantly you've lost trust in humans, and are
likely pretty mad at yourself for not seeing ( or obeying) the signs
sooner. You can get past it, but you need to want to. realize that trust
is earned, not given. And just because you have met someone on the
internet does not equal meeting them in person. The truth is you should
never believe a person on the internet is real until after you have met
them in person, face to face.

I think I'd like to add that chances are real good there is no reason to be scared of your scammer. Chances are good he is in Western Africa or at least another part of the world and has no capability to get to you in person. Blocking him and screening very well any "new" friends for the next few months is a wise choice. If you have other social sites you visit regularly set your privacy preferences so that only your friends can see you and your profile. Then be extremely careful of any "new" friend requests.
it is real common for the scammers to act like 3 year olds when they find out you are onto them. They threaten physical harm, police, and all kinds of things that just are not possible in the real world. Only in a scammer's head can those things work.
with all that said, I hope you did not give him any extremely personal info such as your SSN, or passport #. If so let me know and I'll post what to do about them.
