I checked the email xxxx on line and nothing shows up or their is no match. Does this mean that the person is a scammer.

Edit by Marisa: email address removed.

Lilian, we don't really research scammers here, this is a dating site, not an antiscam site. Are you a member of Romancescam? If not, please register over there and ask all scam-related question in the Romancescam forum.

If you have doubts about somebody being a scammer, please post in "Am I being scammed" section over there. That section is hidden from Google and your posts stay away from Google search until it is confirmed it's indeed a scam. The moderators team of Romancescam will be happy to assist you.

It may also be worth noting, an email address alone is nearly impossible to judge, especially if nothing shows in an internet search engine. The text of the first email or 2 received from the person is extremely important to post in addition to the email address over @ RS dot com. What type of site you met on ( eg: dating site, social networking, or other type of site--- not necessarily the name of the site, just the type of site) is also useful in researching information.

Hello, good evening, spectrum, I'm new to this but find all of this interesting as one, I am finishing my degree in criminal justice and have seen a lot of information on this I also come from a long line of law enforcement and spent the last 22 years in the military. When you say you guys are sending money through visa, how does that work? It still should fall under a visa transaction and therefore should fall under their protection. If you pay for goods or services in which you were promised something in return, could be anything, you have the right to have them credit the account, if you do not get the answer you want at first, try someone higher up, I learned that a few weeks ago OR try social media and be sure to add them to the cc, # or whatever. It was not like people knew what they were doing was fraudulent but like you stated not all companies will help. It's sad people do not see the warning signs, these people are good, I, myself had this happen over the last few days and I only caught it due to their language and verbage.
Quote from spectrumAU If someone asks you for money and you send it you can't hold a third party responsible, certainly not a credit card company if you gave them the instruction to send.

Most credit cards have some sort of protection, if they suggested you speak to transunion then do so. But unfortunately (speaking from experience) most victims make the transfer by Western Union, as requested by the scammer, and never see their money again.

Hey there Beachgal69,

I'm just curious, how much of the experience you have is outside the jurisdiction of the USA?  Many here are from other countries and the same rules we have here in the USA do not apply in other countries.

HI

Guys

I was scammed two weeks ago and you are correct. It's raw and it's real and it will take me time to get over it. Today should be my first day in the UK with him. I fell in love madly in love with a picture. They are very good. Very good. Until yu say you have no more money to give and they go. I came on this site to keep going and not give up. Romancescam helped me a lot last Sunday I blocked him because I was told to and as much as it hurt I knew I had to do it and Idid. I am here. I do want a relationship and I am here with the hopes of positive vibrations. Wish me luck guys. As I build the confidence back up.
