ya know Classy, I am so sad and sorry to hear that people are so closed minded  in this day and age. in each of the questions and statements you posed the wording could very easily be changed to "alcohol" (meaning beer, wine, hard liquor) which is currently legal and in fact is a drug too!!  Is it OK with you to drink alcohol?? you failed to mention that tid bit. Is alcohol a "Poison like this" or is it a better or worse poison??

have you ever smoked or ingested THC to experience a marijuana high, or are you just just blurting your opinion without any first hand knowledge? Most of the medical studies have shown that THC does a world of good for many different symptoms, including everyday stress ( coincidentally the identical reason many people go home to get a "Drink or two....." after work.)

I have never seen anyone high on pot start a fight with someone else because they were "too high" ( liquor seems to make people 10 foot tall and bullet proof). The worst I have ever seen anyone overdose on pot was to make them fall asleep. Even in those cases with their clothes on and still maintaining a sense of dignity. Not coming undressed, peeing themselves,  tossing everything in their stomach wherever they may be, and making a spectacle of themselves like an overdose of alcohol does.  The drug itself does nothing but relax you. you get high, you get happy.... then you get hungry and eat. the munchies is a side effect, but i have never heard of munchies turning an otherwise healthy person into an over weight ready for other medical disease treatment(s) (such as diabetes).

Alcohol causes hundreds to thousands of traffic related deaths each year, not to mention those ten foot tall and bullet proof people that "were just drunk" when they hurt or murdered their friends and family.....

Then there are those addicts/ alcoholics that value nothing except alcohol including their own lives or someone else's life. They kill themselves slowly, and cause great pain to their loved ones as the grip of alcoholism takes its toll.

and the fact is that marijuana was never illegal until the 1920's or so. for 150 years It was one of the best cash crops this country had as an export for making Hemp products in a climate it could grow. It was used as a spice in many recipes. smoked by Native Americans in ceremonies. it was (and still is) part of Native American culture for thousands of year now.

Making it legal gives people another option for a legal drug (remember alcohol is also a drug) and will likely result in a lot more good things than bad.

If you can base an argument that alcohol only does pure and good things for this or any country, i'd love to hear it. But the fact is no matter what the issue is, there are both good and bad things about it depending on your point of view.

also worth noting I used to belong to NORML (decades ago), i gave up doing all drugs (including alcohol) more than 25 years ago with the exception of prescribed medicines from doctors.

As for the tax money, where has that gone in the Colorado economy, the public records that are open to be looked at do not reflect the promises that were made to schools, senior centers, parks, or public transportation. Where is all the state tax profit?

well the fact is the question of "where has it gone"? is 100 % up to the State to decide. Apparently they have used it in several places the politicians never said a word about ( like a politician would ever lie!!!)

Colorado is using pot tax money to save programs funded by big tobacco settlement

Even though half a Billion has been collected, the only thing any of us citizens can do is pay the tax. We do not choose how those taxes get spent, unless you are seriously tied to an organization that has political ties.

I really don't think any of us can send in our taxes with notes saying things like " I don't want any of my tax money to fund a war effort.... or a Southern border wall, or anything like that. If you do and you believe your personal note to the tax man does something, i think you live in a fantasy world.

then there does seem to be actions that the politicians said they were going to do with it as well.... the Colorado.gov site above will eventually take you to a 700 page pdf document that spells out how the money was appropriated, if you care to dig that far into it.

plus i am positive many more articles can be found if anyone has a desire to search for them.

nice way to evade nearly every question I asked of you.

Also you failed to mention in any of your "stories" that the "drugs" or "controlled substance(s) were pot. Therefore leaving the field wide open to speculation. You also failed to mention if it was only one controlled substance or drug involved in either case. But it isn't my place to try and change your mind. I am merely pointing out facts.

if you read the very first post, and many others in this topic alcohol is indeed a point brought to the argument for legalization.  Maybe not "the topic" as you eluded, but a secondary argument that goes hand in hand with this topic. They are both mind altering substances that are legal (in some places). therefore they do have much in common just based on that alone.

Quote from billyHill   Is it OK with you to drink alcohol??  Is alcohol a "Poison like this" or is it a better or worse poison??

have you ever smoked or ingested THC to experience a marijuana high, or are you just just blurting your opinion without any first hand knowledge?

I do believe answers to those 2 or 3 questions are prudent.

My use of the word "Facts" is far from misplaced as  it was your words of "Drugs" and "Controlled substances" that I was asking for clarification of. Ya see the terms "Drugs" and "Controlled Substances" can have many meanings and include a lot more than just marijuana. Therefore I was seeking facts to see if you were talking about the same thing I was.

I don't see how I showed you any lack of respect. If anything i am trying to understand your point of view and show compassion by letting you know that you are entitled to your opinion. Please do me the favor of an explanation of how you can interpret such a statement into lack of respect, because I surely can not see it that way.

I view words like "Stupid useless plant" as disrespectful, because I don't believe anything on this Earth that God made is Stupid or useless. But if that is how you choose to describe things, i don't take a personal affront to it.

since you don't seem to want to answer the questions I've posed to you i will end my part of this discussion. I only will reply to you again after you have told me how I disrespected you by a comment designed to reassure you of my intent.
