hey and welcome, Jessejc23. Use the search function near the top and enter the criteria of who you are hoping to meet. Then after you get results send private messages ( PM's) or Instant messages ( IM's) if they are online, and see what happens.
If you read up a little just announcing you are looking for someone really won't do a whole lot of good, unless you plan on waiting a long time for someone to answer your post.

Hi and welcome to DnM, deli326 . Read up just a bit to see how to use the search function and other stuff.
There is another function near the top for "Groups". I think that fits what you mean by a discussion group. If you can't find one for a topic you want to be involved with, then you can start your own group, make it public or private and invite others to join in.
I noticed you had a few posts on the board already, so welcome to the boards too.
