thanks and HNY to everyone as well. I was lucky enough to see the fireworks going off in Sydney as I woke up yesterday AM. Honestly I was surprised they had them on land and not floated offshore due to the fires in the area.
I guess the advantage to living close to the West side of the international date line is that I get to see what goes on in the rest of the world before it gets into this time zone

The Sydney fireworks were allowed to go ahead as it was over the harbour (not on land). Most of the other cities around Australia cancelled them due to the bush fire threat.
My opinion: Sydney should have been cancelled and exchanged for a light show instead.
