About me |
More than anything else, I consider myself an intellectual. I spend most of my time alone, which is intentional. If you take my isolation as a warning sign that you are reading the profile of a mass murderer or something equally terrifying (and insulting), I'd like it if you put an end to your interpretation. I am harmless, more-or-less. However, I'm pretty good at disappointing people and angering people without even trying. I'm turning into a TV watcher and it concerns me deeply. I hate television. I object to the passive consumption of information, which means the margins in all of my books are filled with notes and my reactions. Non-passive consumption also means that I have dialogue with much of the programming content on TV. I yell at regularly TV regularly. Most of what I watch is educational. I'm pretty eccentric, which is probably more a turn-off than a turn-on. I love laughter! I do a lot of it, especially since I can make myself laugh and, like I said, I spend most of my time alone. I love lectures, like many people who are interested in learning about the world. I streaked across the campus twice while I was an undergraduate. During the second streak, I was chased by police; I used to be a cross country runner so they stood no real chance of catching me. I guess I am trying to say that I probably don't look like I am much fun, but I have moments when hanging out with me isn't too time-wasting. I am not a fan of technological gadgets. I do not have a/an cell-phone, ipad, Kindle, Atari, Nintendo. I have my computer and a house phone; I don't get much use out of the house phone and my computer was assembled under Stalin's regime. I have 7 tattoos. I do my best to be as polite as I can, but sometimes it doesn't come across that way. I understand mistakes are made in all forms of communication, but I try to keep a sound hold of American English and I'd like a partner who does also. |
