Has no one ever done things that they now wonder .....was I very brave, crazy or stupid? I am sure you all have. I know I have.
Though I have parachuted from a plane...do not consider that risky. For we paired off and packed each others chutes. So felt secure in that...for my greatest concern was a chute that would not function. And knew my partner would be as careful with mine as he wanted me to be with his. (I was the only female LOL)
Other than that, These are the things I look back at as totally risky.
Before the civil rights movements, I took Black service wives to register to vote. In the deep, very predjuiced, South. And argued for them...when the registrar asked stupid questions, like "Can you read and write" to college educated women. Think the only saving factor there was that I was a military wife...and they were afraid to harm me. Brave, stupid or crazy?
Went into homeless camps, in the woods, to find VIet Nam vets, that had missed their anti-psychotic meds....or had been exposed to TB and needed to be tested. Brave, stupid or crazy?
Went into crime ridden public housing, middle of the night, walking through gangs....to attend deaths. Brave, stupid or crazy?
Jacked a over 200 lb 6 ft man against a wall, screaming for help....when I caught him molesting a 18 month old baby. Brave, stupid or crazy?
Wrestled with many violent psychotic patients, sitting on them, to give them an injection to calm them. Surprisingly, others sometimes got hurt....but, somehow I never did. Brave, stupid or crazy.
All I can think of now.....wonder I have lived to this old, old age
