For those who remember him, would appreciate some prayer for Joseph.  He is in ICU.  Although he has never been diagnosed with Diabetes....he was admitted with a life threatening complication of Diabetes.

OMG Nona, give Joe our best. Hope he won't be in ICU long, and his recovery is fast and smooth. Diabetes is a diabolical health issue, as are most of its complications.

Best wishes for Joe's full and speedy recovery.  Hope he's back chasing grandchildren soon.

They have him stabilized.  Out of ICU. That was a scary two days.  Now to get his blood sugar levels down.  At least it is no longer life threatening.  Thank you for your prayers and thoughts.

That's going to restrict his cream cakes for sure.

Hope it's only Type 2, it's a lot easier to manage.

My daughter took me to see Joseph last night.  His restrictions will be a lot more than cake, I guess.  There was some organ involvement.  And insulin, with a sliding scale.  He is in good humor...as usual, though.  His room mate is very confused and loud... Of course Joseph is dealing with it with humor.  Responding with soundboards vs. irritation.
Thank you for all your concern and prayers.

Oh dear, that sounds more like Type 1 which means daily injections and strict diet.

He might have to change his name to OldSkinnynUgly after that

I'm real glad he hasn't lost his sense of humor. I personally believe healing is mostly in your mind to start with ( not always the placebo effect, though). Just the fact that if you think you can, you can. If you think you won't, you won't.

Glad you are OK, Joe. I went through the same thing with my mom when she got type2 out of the blue and for no apparent reason... a serious lifestyle change it is, no doubt. But you will be OK. I have faith in you.. ( and that rotten Higher Power of yours with the same sick sense of humor... LOL).

Get healthy soon, Joe!  Some adjustments in diet and lifestyle but you will get the hang of it in no time.  Stay positive and take care.
