I moved your topic from Hobbies section, because you cannot really call smoking a "hobby" LOL.

Another fellow vaper here.  I quit smoking and switched to vaping 5 years ago, in 2013, never had a cigarette ever since. Prior to that, I used to smoke for over 20 years, tried to quit many times with no luck.

Started with 24mg. I'm on 4mg now, going to 2mg in a few months, and after that - nicotine free!

IMHO, vaping is one of the best inventions of the century.

Congrats, Marisa. Also being a smoker I understand what you are talking about. I know many people that use vaping as you describe it, Marisa. What blows my mind is that instead of being happy there is now a reasonable substitute for smoking that leads to stopping, these bureaucrats lump them together and even go so far as to say "we don't know long term effects yet (of vaping), therefore we will assume it is as bad as smoking and outlaw vaping in most public places".

what is wrong with that statement? ever been to a concert or theater event where smoke fills the room?? it is nearly identical to the vape and it seems OK when it applies to the entertainment world. So if a room full of unwilling people are forced to vape because the producer of a show wants the vaping done on stage, it is OK. But if an individual wants to do it, then its wrong. Money talks, while we the people have no power at all is how I see that one.

Still a smoker, but I try to keep under a pack a day. Have tried vaping but just never could get the hang of it I guess. Congrats on quitting Marissa.

Hello estimate, my advice is that you try with an casual and relatively simple devices as the SMOK VAPE PEN 22 and start with a liquid that is flavored tobacco with almond or vanilla, just an example there are ALLOT OF FLAVORS AND BRANDS out there. You have to start, By the amount of cigarettes , I advice in 10mg of nicotine, if you feel that is too much low it to 8, 6 and so on.

ADVICE: 6MG of nicotine in X brand may be different on another 6MG liquid of another brand, may have more or less power, as every brand measure itsi formulas as they want

Interesting question.  I quit smoking 11 years ago after 30+ years of smoking (I quit cold turkey).  I recently began vaping CBD oil.  I was feeling guilty about it because I am a former smoker.  But it's the most effective way to get the advantages of CBD oil so I'm feeling less guilty about it.  I have severe arthritis and sciatica, and it helps me to be able to get around until I get my hip replacement next year.

Congrats, Eboni, on being able to quit cold turkey! I couldn't. Don't feel bad, vaping is not the same as smoking, the only thing in common is that you inhale something, but after all, people with asthma also use inhalers, so not everything inhaled is equally bad.

As for successful switching from smoking to vaping, I tried many brands, devices, flavors, and learnt that... it all doesn't really matter! Of course you should use a flavor that you like, but it's a matter of taste, you cannot really recommend anything here, for example I personally hate vanilla! lol

The most important thing is a good coil head. This little part is a heart of vaping. This is what makes vaping "feel" like smoking. If a coil head doesn't work good, the most cool and advanced device will just turn into a whistle - useless. Coils only work good first few days. If it stops producing throat hit - throw it away without hesitation. Therefore, pick any device with CHEAP, easy to purchase coil heads, change them VERY often and you will be fine.
