One of the few sports I ever enjoyed were Rugger and Cricket, both so-called "gentlemen's sports" and for good reasons. Rugby football is too physically dangerous for any serious foul play to be allowed, so the players stick to the rules.

Cricket is slightly different, as there is basically no chance to foul anyone apart from bowling an "illegal" ball, which is pretty rare, as it will not score and can even send the offender off the field. Cricket needs surprisingly high skills and is very tactical. It also requires good weather. The writer George Orwell (real name Eric Blair) of "1984" and  "Animal Farm" fame was also an accomplished cricketer and played at international level.
