Grace, that same scam has been going on for years...you can google the email address and find the same format and email address reported in 2009 and 2010.
What I don't understand is, why they can get away with using the same email address for so long?
I know most scambaiters don't like to shut down email accounts, but this is ridiculous.

The same happened to me... Though I think I should consider myself lucky - I saw through the scam pretty quickly and didn't lose any money. And before now, I'd not even been on a dating website. The scammers approached me on facebook, sending me a PM, which didn't worry me at first - I made a lot of friends in this way... When I started to get suspicious - first with the spelling/punctuation, then with certain slipups - the scammer changed some vital details, mixed up some facts, sent the same emails twice. I started googling, and that's how I came across romancescam, and with all the information about IPs/proxy etc I made sure it's a scam. It really feels horrible, despite no financial loss on my side - but I do feel utterly betrayed, violated. At first when I thought it's just a friend, we exchanged emails and I shared so many personal details: who I am, what I do for a living, information about my family and previous relationship. I even sent them my pics, which they will perhaps use to scam someone else
It's an awful breach of trust, and indeed, it's hard to forget. I'd never think it could happen too me - I don't think my country is very attractive to fraudsters, my FB profile doesn't give any indications as to my financial status, I was not on any dating websites. My experience proves it can happen to anyone, anywhere in the web.
But I'm determined not to let this experience get me down or lose my faith in people. I'll still trust others, just be extra careful next time.

Bulbanna: Happened to me just like you. I'd not even been on a dating website. The scammers approached me on facebook, sending me a PM. And I started to get suspicious when the scammer changed some vital details. The positive side: I meet datingmore because of it. _________________ Conocerán la verdad y la verdad los hará libres.

Same story here! I was so shattered by the experience and I love the support and help I got on RS - so when I saw that there's a DnM website, I thought it might be a great idea to make friends

@Bulbanna & Maria Vanetti we should be very grateful because we're still alive. I really didn't know about Romance Scamming before that's why I was hooked & scammed.

Very few people know or understand. That's why we need to spread the word. The more who know, the less will get caught eventually putting the scammers out of business. _________________

To Bulbanna:
All the stories are so similar. I wasn't on dating site either, my scammer found me on Skype which I use only for calling my family and friends. A strange coincidence, his surname was the same as my friend's and I've accepted him as a contact. Fortunately I discovered the site about romance scams soon, made some research and found out the truth. Only one thing seems very strange, I was able to see my scammer for a short time on web cam. But even that could be a fake, I think. I feel very sorry for the people whose pictures are used for the scams. And I talk about my experience with all of my friends to warn them about the risks of the social network. We need to spread the word so the people around us are more cautious. I fear that other victims will fall for scams but the emotional support of this forum helps a lot. At least I realized that there is nothing wrong with me and gained my self-esteem again. We mustn't give them chance to put us on the knees.
