I thought being a dating site, this could be a good warning to post here ( for all the future marriages to result from this site )

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Brides, beware. The International Bridal Manufacturers Association is warning brides-to-be about online wedding dress scams.

IBMA said scammers are taking designer dresses and making knock off versions to sell online at a cheaper price. They are selling them as if they are the real thing.

“They tell you that it is the designers item which is false. They do tell you that it is made by the designer, which is false,” said Gary Walls, owner of Bridal Bliss in Birmingham.

Walls knows first hand the amount of brides that fall victim to these online deals.

“They copy these (designer) tags and sew them inside the dresses. The gowns are falling apart,” said Walls.

The American Bridal and Prom Industry Association said thousands of online retailers are frauds. TABPI says they have successfully tracked down on over a thousand of these fake websites since 2014, but more are still out there. According to them, the biggest red flag is the price. If you notice a 50 to 75 percent markdown, chances are it’s a fake.

“These are nothing but copies of crape paper. It’s ungodly fabrics that are just very poor quality,” said Walls.

IBMA said the money back guarantee that most counterfeiters offer, is in fact just a plot. They said customers will most likely not be able to find the contact information to get their money back.
